In the summer of 1984, a five-year-old boy named Billy disappears in a small town in southern Sweden. Despite an extensive search effort, he is never found and rumors soon begin to spread. For his 12-year-old sister Vera, the disappearance leaves a wound that never fully heals.
Twenty years later, Vera works as a psychologist in Stockholm when a young man joins her group therapy session. As he recounts fragmented memories from his childhood, including the disappearance of a young boy, Vera is struck by unsettling similarities to her brother’s case. Shaken by the encounter, Vera returns to her hometown and her broken family, determined to uncover the truth about what happened that summer.
